Wilma is a Swedish brand supplying mobile phone cases and is now launching a collection manufactured from a compostable and 100% bio-degradable material, according to EU-standard EN 13432. This collections theme is “STOP OCEAN PLASTIC POLLUTION” and donates 1 USD per sold case to projects that promote protection of both the sea and the environment. From the 3rd September, Telia will be the first in the Nordics to offer this new collection across its stores in Sweden.
Swedish brand Wilma is launching a new mobile phone case manufactured from PBAT and PLA combined in a composite material. The new collection provides cases for iPhone and Samsung’s S10 and S10+ devices. Product is also ready for the new iPhone devices expected to be presented on September 10th.
- Everything that has already happened within FMCG and later in fashion/clothing is now happening within Consumer Electronics (CE) and the mobile industry. We see a strong interest in sustainability not just in the Nordics, but across Europe where Wilma will also set to launch with several partners this autumn in countries such as the UK, Switzerland and France. We aim to be the leader within sustainability for our industry and the new Wilma collection is our first step on this journey, says Pärlan Fritz, Commercial Director at Fashiontekk AB.
Wilma is being introduced and launched in close collaboration with the distributor STRAX, a global mobile accessory specialist with over 200 employees in 13 countries, and operational headquarters and a distribution center in Germany. STRAX is listed on Nasdaq Stockholm.
- We at STRAX are very proud to launch this collection together with Wilma on the Nordic market. We, as a company, are focusing heavily on sustainability and have together with our customers seen an increase in demand for environmentally friendly products within mobile accessories. The consumer is asking for more sustainable options and with Wilma and their new collection, we are positioning ourselves at the forefront of this demand to cater to the market says Elif Schmidt, MD, STRAX Nordic AB.
- Sustainabilty is at the top of our agenda. With this collaboration, we are able to provide our stores with more environmentally friendly products for our customers, which is something that pleases us enormously, says Nicklas Stuxgren, manager of Hardware and Services at Telia Sweden.
Wilma’s new mobile phone cases are produced of 60% PBAT and 40% PLA
PLA (Polylactic Acid) is a thermoplastic aliphatic polyester derived from renewable biomass, typically from fermented plant starch such as from corn, cassava, sugarcane or sugar beet pulp.
PBAT (Polybutylene Adipate Terephthalate) is a biodegradable random copolymer. PBAT can be made from both fossil and bio-based sources, and is fully biodegradable (EN 13432).
Packaging is manufactured from recycled paper, minimal in size and is completely free of plastic.
